Tonight, inspired by the teacher of my #watercolor workshop and her travel #palette of 12 full pans, and also my friend @BirderPainterBaker who also favors full pans, I made a limited palette of 12 colors. All full pans. Okay I might have squished a little Shadow Violet in with the Mineral Violet. But that doesn't count. You can barely tell it's there.

I'd take a photo but I'm not at my desk, and I'm not unconvinced that when I wake up I won't change it up. So I'll take a photo then.

@hollie To be fair, and for full disclosure, I have a number of half pans too! But my most used colors deserve full pans, and those half pans are too small when using a full size brush!

Sadly, I am short one full-size pan, so I have two yellow ochres in half-pans side by side

Also for full disclosure, I have mounds of colors put out on the inside of my palette's lid for easy access!

@hollie Also, I think I'll set aside time before this Sunday to paint and label my palette... I think I have two separate pans of New Gamboge, for example, and a mystery pan of a blue-green... and mystery pans of greens, though I think I know or can guess 2 out of 3!

I've just needed an excuse to Do The Thing, and the class with #LizSteel kind of gives me the incentive....

@BirderPainterBaker So you know what? I'm finding I don't like New Gamboge, and there isn't exactly a great reason - it's kinda like when I get a bad feeling about someone at a party. 😅

I think it's that I can never get it to mix nicely. I've ejected it in favor of the duo of QOR's Benzimidazolone Yellow and then some Quinacridone Gold. I'm learning how much Quin Gold can do in terms of greens, it's basically green heaven. And we know I need my greens.

But in case you're weary and hearing about another's special interest delights you in some small way, here they are from memory:

1. Quinacridone Red (PV 19, it's like pink cotton candy, or gorgeous punk hair, or a wee gnome mage)
2. Transparent Pyrrol Orange (this color does everything)
3. Benzabloopity Yellow (from QOR, obv. it's a chemical starting with Benz...)
4. A pan of Autumn Green and Phthalo Green (YS) stuffed together (shhhh)
5. Cobalt Teal (OBV.)
6. Quinacridone Gold

-->

  1. Ultramarine Blue (Roman Szmal's fancy pants version)
    8. Mineral Violet and Shadow Violet from RS shoved together
    9. Burnt Sienna (like TPO, it does everything)
    10. Ocean Blue from Roman Szmal again, this baby is a stunner, like Cascade Green only...blue
    11. Cypress Burnt Umber Deep (I can mix it with TPO and UB, but it's never as dense as the fresh)
    12. Damn. I only remember eleven. Yellow ochre, maybe?
