Okay so today in the Things That Are Totally Normal But I Don't Understand It category (this could literally be a discussion series) we have:
Smart phones that you keep in your back pants pocket.
You don't lose them? They don't fall out? No one steals them? It seems like a recipe for getting your phone either stolen or cracked. Perhaps my butt is just too powerful. 🤔 (Reader: this was not her problem)
@hollie For me it works for trousers that sit very high, so that I don’t sit on the phone when I sit down 😬 it’s more comfortable for me than having it in the front pocket because there it annoys me while walking
OOoo Angine de Poitrine has released the rest of Album II!
@hollie Don't feel bad. For the 1962 Mariner 1 mission, there was a programmer at NASA who omitted a "-" from a computation and the ship crashed 5 minutes after liftoff. You got off lightly.
“The world we knew is far behind us now.
“It’s slow going without the guideposts we’re used to, but I think if we want more compassion and understanding, we must embody compassion and understanding.”
Just completed “It Was Mourning and It Was Evening: A Good Day” on my small website, Wildfrolics.
Featuring:
a squashed mantis, kayaks, a dead orange fly, a geranium, Jesus, a one-legged seagull, ravens, a chickadee, the ocean, a stick, a bobcat, the Sun, three translucent pearl-like objects, a backhoe opening a river mouth, a white beach-dragon, pelicans, bees, a figleaf, crickets, a seastar, and a big gray squirrel
@superball The bird! ☺️
@hollie the people I see that do the back pocket phone are typically femmes without an adequate front pocket and no desire to carry it in an auxiliary cargo arrangement of some sort. It seems to be a bit more tasteful than Bra Phone, though driven by similar necessities.
@spaceraser Ahhh yes, sticking the phone in the bra, good 'ole Titty Telecom. It's kind of amazing what you can get in there. My friend and I once snuck candy into a theater that way.
@hollie I don't understand it either. My theory is that it's only possible for people with man pants (because they have bigger pockets) and flat butts (so the phone doesn't bend or stick out at an angle).
As someone with a very round booty, I could never!
@Gulleko Oh geez I hadn't even thought about how man pants have better pockets, that's so real!
My last phone was literally curved for like 4 of it's 5 years for this precise reason.
In summer, I don't have enough pockets to have a dedicated phone spot, so it often ends up back there, courting danger.
@jessekelber Hee hee, bum curve. Yeah see I think I'd just crack mine? I mean I know they're strong, but the risk feels to great, lol!
@hollie I do keep mine in my back pockets (not particular about which side) but am diligent about taking it out before using the restroom after one of my buddies lost hers (by falling out of her back pocket) down a latrine hole
@compostablespork This is totally something I would do. 😂

@spaceraser Same. And I realize I'm a big person but there seem to be a lot of bigger folks now and Back Pocket Phone still seems to be so common, like how, where is the necessary hinge

@hollie my bony butt and large abdomen would absolutely crushinate any phone left in my back pocket
